My immigration attorney said it was OK for my wife to "volunteer" as long as the work was "volunteer", i.e. something a US citizen could "volunteer" to do.
She volunteered to work at a local library and it was a good diversion until they set a schedule for her and removed a job posting in the same library - then it became both a question of her being exploited and taking a job away from a US citizen, so she had to give it up. So, the lessen is, if it is truly volunteer work, then your spouse should be able to set his/her own schedule; if the schedule is set for him/her, then it becomes a problem.

May be we should gather momentum, and ask ImmigrationVoice to start working to address the issue of past backlogs as well as future backlogs too. Moderators, please make a note of this thread and direct us on path forward. May be another flower revolution; or may be we should send pens saying "Change the immigration law and make US a beacon of freedom". This will decide the fate of millions of people in US waiting for their GC approval.

I didnt make that statement because he doesnt agree with me. Go look at loveh1b's previous posts .. he is consistently against everything IV stands for.That begs the question why is he here ? Freedom of speech and all is fine and dandy, but if a person simply doesnt believe in anything we stand for then you know what to call him.

I think IV did great today. BUT
lets not act as children and pick fights with AILA. Please remember, due to their vested interest, there is NO ONE else who is more PRO-immigrant than AILA.. not even tech-employers..
So if they are saying situation might be fluid and if they are saying not to spread rumours.. then so BE it..
I hope I am wrong but seems like tiny access and frustration is causing few IV core members BIG heads ..
This is time to be calm, AND YES DISCREET!!!!
Before people start dumping on me.. please note.. we are among friends here and one of the ways to keep in check these things is to call upon friends when you feel they made a mistake.. and I FEEL IV made a mistake.. I am happy to inform all of you in NORCAL that the permit to conduct a signature/letter campaign at Fremont BART is with us!!!
NOTE: This cannot be used by another member at another station-- this is a non-transferrable permit SOLELY for the campaign at Fremont at the said times, but you can request a similar permit for any BART station!
Now, I need at least ONE other member to be there on a weekday evening of your choice (I am planning to go there EVERY weekday evening for 2 weeks) and help me conduct this campaign!

Just read the Ombudsman's report today - though I'd heard about these facts floating aroiund...
Not claiming to make some new discovery here... merely stating that it kinda makes sense now.
Sorry to start a new thread about this.... listened to Rajiv Khanna's recorded conf call and apparently he's not very hopeful anything will come out of AILF's class action...

Same issue with me.
Different A# on I 140 and the I 485 receipt notice. The A# on the FP notice is the same as the I 485 receipt notice.
I have emailed the paralegal handling my case and she said she'll confirm with the lawyer and get back to me.
BTW my I 140 A# starts with 088 and the I 485 receipt notice starts with 094.
Don't know what that means.
Will keep you guys updated with whatever my lawyer sends me back.
